I wonder if the whole probable war with Iraq could be avoid with a simple game of rps between sadaam and bush. Bush wins-Iraq disarms; Sadamm wins-we leave him alone. Of course,it would be a two-out-of-three match because it is a serious issue. What do you think?

We would all agree that Rock Paper Scissors is a game played by honourable people.

I believe that both Bush and Hussein have proven themselves to be of less integrity than would be required for entrance into the society. Thus any decision reached between these two would likely not result in the decision being honoured.

Therefore, as noble a thought as it is, Daenerys, it would likely only serve to demean RPS in general.

Isn't RPS meant to be non life threatening decisions?Huh James is right..i don't think given the stakes any self respecting politician/dictator would would abide by the outcome...lets face it these are the fellows who were notroiously bad RPS players when they were in school and both turned to bullying

I think it could work on lesser political fronts.....Up here in Canada we have a number of federal politicians that could easily resolve their differences with RPS.

An excellent point which I neglected to mention Master Lovering. Glad to see that the Responsibility Code is still held in such high esteem by the leading players of the sport.

At the same time, we can't overlook the famous Clinton/Yeltsin match.  I'm sure there are many people who would argue that one or both of these individuals were not honourable people.  This is not to suggest that Bush and Hussein should settle their political differences through RPS, but rather to refrain from completely excluding them from participation in this pastime.

Daenerys,

It's great to see you are still visiting this site, we hadn't heard from you in a while.

I think RPS could fill a void that democracy can't. Think about it, we never really know a candidate. We tend to vote based on our political party's favorite. If it were used at all levels, I believe nothing but good could come from it. City leaders could play to settle zoning laws and construction projects, state senate's could play rps rather than drone on and on about nothing all day, political party's could play to decide who the next candidate will be, and finally, I could play george bush, best of 21, for control of our nations military. If He wins, He gets his silly war to make-up for his daddy's shortcomings. If (when) I win, I will demobilize after taking the island of St. Croix for myself.

I have a feeling Dubya only throws rock.
