The humor website Cracked has an article about 6 weird sports people make a living at, which includes RPS.  The article talks about the USARPS champ, but mixes in this site as well.

Don't ask me what I was doing watching the TO Show, but I was.

TO was on a date and when there came to be a dispute over who was paying, TO decided it had to be decided by RPS.

It was a lightning round and TO fell for the oldest trick in the book - a girl opening with Scissors.  Scissors cut Paper and lady paid the check.

An episode of The Mentalist showed him play RPS against a sheriff's deputy (I think?) as a demonstration of his ability to understand how people think. He won six throws in a row (1-prime shoot, throwing 'on three'). The first four throws were P v R, S v P, P v R, P v R, not sure what the last two were.

Edit: found a video here. The last two throws were S v P, S v P.

It was good to see RPS represented as a game of psychology rather than chance.

Nice find on the Mentalist martin.  It's almost as if you read the thread you're posting about, as I wrote about the same show and series in this very thread.  Just check back one page :)

Found another clip on the Venture Bros., the second in a short while.  This time the Venture twins had to play against each other to see who would donate a kidney to their dad, Dr. Venture.  They both throw, and the show ends.  After the creds, the Dr. is seen with 2 new kidneys.  The twins had both played Rock against each other, so the Dr. decided just to take a kidney from each of them.  Talk about a tie-breaker.  I don't think this particularly violates the world rules of not playing for life-and-death, as both twins have already died many times in the show and are regularly brought back by cloning.

I think the media have been fueled by the parents.....  so many kids go missing with no coverage at all - they should be grateful its getting so much media attention.

I'm reading Rock Paper Scissors: Game Theory in Everyday Life by Len Fisher. Do books count?

Maynard from Tool with some kind of muffled shout-out to RPS.  Sounds like he says, "Could we cover paper, scissors, rock here."  I always thought Rosh might be somehow involved with Maynard.  Both pretty mysterious guys.  Except of course Maynard's notoriously media shy.

I can't say I found it all that funny. Sounds like a "Paper Scissors Rock Society" joke, to me.

Video coverage from a local online news team at the WRPSS sanctioned tournament held in Orange, NJ tonight.

In it, you will find some of Philly's finest, Bryan Bennett, and Urbanus saying RPS is all luck... Hmm.

I think they cut in with me repeating their question and then explaining how it's not all luck.

That looked like a fun event.  Urbanus definitely said it's not all luck and explained why in his segment.  The reporter also played scissors at the end, solidifying the girls throw scissors more theory.

I also found an interesting conversation about RPS in the show Kung Fu (season 1, episode 8 "Sun and Cloud Shadow):

The scissors cut the paper.  The paper covers the rock.  The rock crushes the scissors. (Master Po)

Is not playing a child's game a waste of time? (Caine)

In games, children teach, sometimes more than books.  Come, instruct an old man, and yourself.  (Master Po)

(Master Po throws rock, Caine throws Scissors)

Rock crushes scissors.  (Caine)

Look beyond the game, as you look beneath the surface of the pool to see its depths.  (Master Po)

Each in turn conquers the other.  There is no stronger, or weaker.  (Caine)

This is the harmony of nature, and not a waste of time.  (Master Po)

I will treasure this lesson master.  (Caine)

I have three treasures which I hold and keep.  The first is mercy, for from mercy comes courage.  The second is frugality, from which comes generosity to others.  The third is humility, for from it comes leadership.  (Master Po)

Strange treasures... How shall I hold them and keep them... In memory?  (Caine)

Ha ha ha, no Grasshopper not in memory, but in your deeds!  (Master Po)

Sometimes, it doesnít really take much to be able to separate yourself from the rest of the pack. Take the Rock Paper Scissors Championships, for example, where contestants shake their fists and battle it out for a generous reward of over US9,000 dollars. Former contestant Bryan Bennett says in the world of Rock Paper Scissors, he enjoys some kind of popularity. In 2006, he won the silver medal for the contest and went home with US1,400 dollars. These days, some people who recognize him occasionally challenge him to a battle of the fists and heís more than willing to accept them to keep himself sharp, as he sets his eyes on the 9,000 dollar prize.

Great list indeed, they even went as deep to find: The 1995 Fox Rock 'N Roll Skating Championships

And here I thought thatI was the only one would know that reference being an RnR Skating enthusiast myself.

By way of welcoming you all back to the Board after the recent technical hiatus, here's one of my all-time favorite RPS clips. It's from a show MTV2 used to air called "Wonder Showzen."  Wonder Showzen was a variety show in the style of a chilren's TV show, but was clearly made for adults (the disclaimer read "If you let your child watch this, you are a bad parent.") The humor was hit or miss; some of the skits were stupid, others were brilliant. In either case, the show had consistently questionable taste with regards to its content, which made it awesome. Here's a scene where a puppet plays RPS against God:
