It's a bird... it's a plane... it's RPS Radio!

Hey RPS fans! "The Man" may have tried his best to keep us down, but better than he have tried to kill RPS Radio, and we're still standing. Not just standing, but better than ever. Not just better, but back with a vengance!

Episode 6, containing half of our all-access coverage of the 2006 WRPS International World Championships coverage is live on the site and iTunes now so get cracking at www.rpsradio.com. Episode II, "the thrilling conclusion" as we like to say in the biz... is only a couple of weeks away, and has been guaran-damn-teed before April 1 (no, no joke... we wouldn't be so petty after such a lengthy delay).

Don't blame "The Man". It wasn't him keeping you down. I suspect Jackass Hallestone must have had a hand in it and likely Al Thorn has a couple of theories.

In fact, I was requested by "The Man" himself, Chairman Smallsoa, to "dial in the RPS Channel on the hi-fi" for him. His primary assistant, Leona mentioned to me that the last time he wanted to listen to something was the great 1972 RPS simulcast, so you have powerful ears listening this month...

Fine episode, guys. Nice scene-setting and a great mix of interviews - some newcomers, some all-time legends of the sport. Looking forward to part two!

I am smoking crack or was Alex was not in Triple A form, it seemed to me that he was spending a little too much time at the bar leaving Chris to pick up the pieces.

The heavy lifting  award of course goes to Grant who did an amazing array of interviews. I have a feeling he may get an Arrpie (RPS Radio award) for Best Reporting From A Major Tournament and likely a host of other awards like: Best Single Interview, Best Group Interview, Best Team Interview, Best Player Interview, Overall Achievement Award, Techincal Achievement Award, and likely a craft award for Production. 

Can't wait till part II!

It's true that the hero of both episodes is really Grant. If you thought Part I was "Grant Heavy" it just gets moreso. To be fair, live event coverage is really neither the forte of Chris or myself. My background is print journalism, so to me "covering an event" is catching up with old friends, taking notes, and having adoring fans pick up the bar tab. Chris, on the other hand, has some kind of degree in small engine repair or something so... uh... yeah.

So when we decided to devote two episodes worth of coverage to the champs, it was really obviously going to be "the Grant Desmond show(s)". Chris and I tried to give him the odd tiny breaks to collect his thoughts and check in with the guys in the broadcast truck... but other than that it's a pretty impressive solo performance. Plus a "very special mystery guest" steps up to the plate with Grant in a big way towards the end of the night, both as a major interview and to provide play-by-play support of the finals... I don't want to give anything away but I think absolutely no one will be surprised.
