Shinchan

I should probably just put this in with RPS in Media, but I think the show Shinchan showed a variation of RPS I don't see very often in media.  Shinchan is an anime on adult swim right now, and I saw an episode yesterday where Shin, his father, and little sister played a 3 person match over opening canned goods.  Shin's little sister is a baby, and won by playing rock, which reminded me of the post about crushing 3 year olds. 

  This is the second time I've seen RPS on the show, so I just thought I'd put it out there.

If you are refering to Urbanus's match against Maverick at the SWPROAMs a while back, Maverick was older than three and certainly Urbanus did not crush him.

It was in fact Urbanus that was crushed in more ways than one. Perhaps the most crushing element was the fact the Mike McKeown's camera was there to record it for the Documentary. It is an excellent scene in the movie.

As usual, Graham hid behind his ref duties. So you could say that he was never defeated (or never won either)

Of interest to you mr. chuk is that the local magazine in promoting the event used a photo of you in full rps action. Seems you left the Longyearbynians with quite an impression

Well, I've never been a big fan the games administrators suddenly thinking they can play. It's like the old Miss World organiser deciding she can answer the questions better than the competitors and then throwing on the swimsuit.

Players play and administrators administrate. You won't catch me organising anything.

I'm glad you said the photos were of me in RPS action. I've been victim of some pretty tawdry fundraising schemes in my times, and I was pretty sure I'd already paid enough to the good people of Longyearbyen.

When are we going to get a report on the tournament.

How did Ranghilde (possible translation error), last years winner, go. Also, there was some young guy who came second in 2005 who showed promise. I took him out early so his 2006 result was possibly an unfair reflection on his ability.

And who, besides me, is lobbying their respective governments to bring back whaling.

Jef, Did you get to see the Nordic princesses carrying guns like they were earrings? I'll bet you noticed. Admit it.

In fact, maybe you should do the report. Graham will only rabbit on about RPS and the quality of the airline service.  Here's your chance to actually contribute something, Jef. An insight into the world of International RPS from your perspective. A fly on the wall expose, if you will. Just think, "Jef Hallestone - Wordsmith 2007". It would look good in your otherwise unremarkable trophy cabinet. (At least, you wouldn't have to make it yourself)
