Media...tell them that they're ruining the sport of RPS The Media ruining the sport? I think some of the players themselves are doing a good enough job of it themselves. Case in point: Do I even need mention Jasmine Meade's shaved head? She was the best ambassador the sport ever had until that fiasco. It will be like 4 months before she will even be presentable to the cameras again. I am currently experiencing a protacted case of media abuse at the hands of a documentary that insists on showing footage of my private residence, despite the fact that I consider this an invasion of my privacy, and have asked them many times to remove said footage Rosh, I lot of people around here call me thinkheaded and I guess I am missing something really obviously here but... Can you please explain how exactly it is an invasion of privacy when you obviously invited the cameras into your home in the first place?

You must be drinking from Roshambollah's personal stash of propaganda koolaid. There were RPS tournaments before the World Championships and Burning Man Open. Besides, how does the WRPSS appropriate an idea of an event that they provided the initial sanctioning to? but, but...usarps is evil, right? I have to believe that. and the reason their evil is that they stole the idea of rps tournaments from worldrps right? but if there were tournaments before the burning man man open then that means that grady is right. theres no way that worldrps could have apropropriated the idea of rps tournaments from rosh if there were tournaments before him. but doesnt that also mean that usarps couldnt have stolen the idea from worldrps since there were tournaments before them? my head hurts. will someone plz tell me what to believe? ps i think jasmine looks hot with her shaved head

After careful consideration, I have revised my position on "media abuse." Actually, I'm all for it. Over the past year, I have made a point of being abusive to members of the media every chance I get. Typically, I call them "jackals" to their faces, and tell them that they're ruining the sport of RPS. Forgive me if I'm wrong, Roshambollah, but have you not worked as a color commentator for televised RPS on three separate occasions? Doesn't that make you a member of the very media you claim is ruining the sport?

Hey Cohrs,
How are you looking for the Worlds? I know transport is a problem and I've been trying to organise the WRPSS limo to come and get you but it's proving a nightmare. I filled out 07-LIM 3300-c in July and got approval but it appears that now Wojeck needs to take his kids Arctic Fox hunting around the same time. I'm trying to fudge the dates but he won't budge.
I've got a lead on a hippy bus traveling somewhere near by but, as Rosh says, you can't trust a hippy to be other than a hippy, so I am still looking for alternatives.
I'm also working the accommodation thing. Worst case, you have to sleep in my bathroom but I'm hoping to improve on that. Maybe you could have my bed during the night, when I don't need it, and I could have it during the day.
If you are prepared to wear a disguise I have another idea.
Anyway keep us informed. I'm toying with the idea of buying an international neophyte team. I'd love to have you on board.
regards custardchuk

Hey chuk, The hippy bus sounds awesome. I fondly remember riding around the mountains near Denver in my cousin's VW bus listening to Floyd and the Dead. Since I can't seem to get hired to a decent job these days, things are looking up for the trip to the big show. I'm just about to move back to my old town of Bay City, so that's only a few hours away from Toronto. I've been holding back on buying a ticket for a while, but I think today's the day. I don't think driving there will be a problem, but if you, Urbanus, or anyone else knows about a place to crash for a day or two, let me know. I'd rather not drive home the same night, as it would severly limit my ability to support the fine brewery sponsoring the event. About a five hour drive for me. I was debating whether to buy tickets today or not, but after reading this, I went ahead with the purchase. I've got my competitor slot tickets sitting next to me. .

Wow, at the Roshambo Winery tournament I was truly blown away. I met the veritable god, the Midnight Rider. Geez he's just soo much sexier in the flesh and with that mask on and all. But despite my obvious lustful urges...I maintained composure and smoked his @ss out of the first round. Looking forward to see if the sexy brute wants a grudge match at the worlds, tonight. Sista

So how was it guys?
I wish I'd been there to catch up with the awesome Bullboard crew.
I bet you had a wonderful time. Any chance of releasing the winners' names early?
What happened? How did everyone play?
I'd love to know the news.
Cheers, Franklint

Hi Franklint, Lots of stories will start to trickle in to the board I'm sure over the next week as all the players make their way (eventually) back home and reflect on the weekend. Many of the bullboard regulars stayed in town for Sunday as well and were just heading back home today. The tournament itself gets so insane that the bullboard tends to slow down a little as people travel/detox/try to remember what happened. I'm sure you've seen the official press release but if not click hereAndrea Farina is an extremely worthy champion. Many considered her a bit of a dark-horse given the very, very, strong final 16 (which included the New Zealand national champion, the street champion, and 2006 World Champion Bob Cooper) but she was the definition of "steely" throughout her matches, absolutely nothing seemed to phase her at all as she tore through the competition. I think the highest finish of a bullboard regular, was Urbanus who made it to the final 32 and was a single throw away from repeating in the final 16... sadly it was not to be. However there were lots of great placings. Many 'boarders made it to the round of 128, which puts them in the top 25% of all competitors - so that's great to see. Plus there were some fun individual stories this year. Frankie 13 from Philadelphia came up to compete with his entire family... the first of an entire family entering that I can remember. Marcus from team Norway set a personal best and played the strongest I've personally seen him play. ScissorsSista had a fantastic first tournament (and a great costume that I didn't realize actually incorporated scissors until I saw the photos later)... As for my impressions, I thought it was a great year. The tournament itself ran very smoothly, and everyone seemed to have a great time. We had the fewest number of disqualifications I've ever had in a tournament (2), there were no major issues with the players, and the pre and post-tournament dinners, movies, and karaoke sessions were a welcome chance to meet old and new friends. I've got as many good memories from this year as any previous championship weekend, thanks to everyone who helped make the weekend such a success. Safe travels to everyone en-route back to their homes today!

Hi Brad,
Thanks for your message.
Glad everyone enjoyed the tournament and the Sunday. I hope people aren't too jetlagged (for those from overseas).
Indeed I did see the press release. Andrea Farina sounds very well-deserved of the title if she battled through all those tough competitors. You look very professional as per usual, and have an excellent stage presence.
A big congratulations to C. Urbanus for making the final 32, and also to the rest of the Bullboarders who competed and/or made it to the final 128.
Sounds like some cool stories. I hope I can see ScissorSista's costume for myself at some point.
It's wonderful that you found the championships to be so enjoyable and smooth.
I can't wait to come to the worlds myself at some point!
Safe travels from me also.
Cheers, Franklint

Just a warning.

Cam here the New Zealand national champ.
Was my first time ever competing at this event, and even first year ever playing RPS in a tournament.
Was very happy with my top 8 placing and my counter-part Australian champs top 32 placing.
We hope to make the trip again next year and succeed further.
Thanks to all of you who I met at the event and wandering the streets after, you guys made it an event in my life to remember.

Congrats to everyone who did well in what sounds like yet another awesome tournament.
Congratulations especially to Cam who's done New Zealand proud with his final eight placing. RPSNZ salutes you!

ScissorsSista had a fantastic first tournament (and a great costume that I didn't realize actually incorporated scissors until I saw the photos later)... Thanks Brad, I had a beaut time mate. A totally bonza experience! However it was surely, one of the dumbest, chilliest costumes to wear in October in Toronto - and as for those scissor 'bunny ears'...chucking them in the bin at the end of the evening was a most liberating experience! Congrats to the winners, losers and especially the organisers, refs and volunteers who made it an awesome event. Cheers ScissorSista
