Hey all, Thanks for the great and memorable weekend! I'm still reeling from the early loss, but it might just be the beers. I didn't quite know what to expect on the drive to Canada, but everyone made me feel right at home, and it was my pleasure to meet you all. As I entered America, the border guard asked me why I was in Canada, and I told him about the tourney. He didn't know what I was talking about, and asked me what I use scissors for. I said to cut paper, but paper covers rocks. I thought it was pretty self-explanatory, but apparently he thought I was just messed up on something, cause he asked me at least 3 times if I had any "substances," "plants," or "pharmaceuticals" in the car. I didn't, but he wouldn't take my word for it and proceeded to search my car. He found my rainmaker, which is just beads in a hollow tube used for music, and asked me if I was "smoking drugs with it." And this whole time I had to pee so bad, because he had already held up our line checking somebody for about half and hour ahead of me, even though they were apparently ok too. So I'm thinking that this crap is never gonna end and my bladder's just gonna blow, but he finally went through enough stuff to be happy and sent me on. Maybe he noticed the many RPS souvenirs I had and decided I was legit after all. At least he let me go just in time to hit the rest area. I thought I was going to suffer my worst loss of the weekend by pissing myself in front of the border guards.
Even though it was a quick defeat at the tourney, I used the free time to learn some more about the sport and the players. A German couple showed me how the sport works in their native country (2 prime and horizontal scissors), and I was able to beat them in a German-style match. I met the unofficial "Team Condor," or those 3 crazy Englishmen dressed as knights, and I was also able to pull off a victory against one of the members. I went up 80 street dollars, but lost it all in a quadruple or nothing match to a guy I saw picking pockets of about everyone. And I lost it just in time to be out of dollars for a buy back in, but man it was worth it to thug on a thug for a bit. And I played my first game of tagteam RPS with chuk and Rosh, which was definitely an interesting way to go about the game.
I'd have to say of all the matches I won and lost this weekend, one of my favorites was against Johnny Goodtimes. Beat him twice in a best of 1, and once for street cash. Playing the rest of the board members was definitely exceptional, and reminded me of playing the family in our yearly Christmas poker all-night games.
Thanks again to everyone for the great memories. I hope everyone's having/had safe travels home.
