RPS Ladder Tournament Rules

Match Format

Matches are best of seven - first to four points wins the match.

Matches are played over rpsgame.com, and the challenger sends the first throw. After the challenged player responds to that throw (by clicking on the email, and choosing their first throw), they then click the 'challenge...' link and choose their second throw. Play continues to alternate along those lines.

Making Challenges

You can challenge either of the players 1 or 2 places above or below you.
You can only issue 1 challenge at a time. (Note: This means you have to finish that match before issuing another challenge.)
If you lose a challenge, you cannot challenge the same player again until you have challenged someone else.

To make a challenge, first, announce your challenge by posting to the 'RPS Ladder Tournament!' thread.
Then, if the player is not already under challenge, you can immediately begin the match by sending a challenge via rpsgame.

Challenges are based on rankings when the challenge is announced.

Receiving Challenges

You cannot refuse a valid challenge.
If you are challenged by two other players, the second challenger's challenge is postponed until the first match is completed.

So, you will only be playing in at most two ladder games at once - the challenge you made, and the challenge you accepted.

Forfeits

You can claim victory by forfeit if your opponent takes more than a week to make a throw, although hopefully players will rarely take that long!

Results

The winner should message me or email me with the throws from the match to make the result official. (Players may wish to save their rpsgame.com emails in case of dispute.) You're also welcome to provide updates during the match (at the end of each set for example) if you want to keep people updated with how your match is going.

If you beat someone higher-ranked than you, then you take their spot, and they move down a spot (along with any other players in between you). If you beat someone lower-ranked than you, then you move up one spot.

Rankings movement is based on the rankings when the match ENDS.

Prizes

Here are the details of the awards in the RPS Ladder Tournament.

Titles are awarded quarterly, on March 21, June 21, September 21, and December 21. The first titles will be awarded on June 21.

The titles are:

Season Champion

Awarded to the player finishing at the top of the ladder for that season. Time your run well!

Currently: R Cohrs is top.

King of the Ladder or Queen of the Ladder

Awarded on a points basis, to the player spending most time at the top of the ladder in that season. Winning a match to take you into 1st place earns you 1 point; winning a match when you are in 1st place earns you 1 point.

Currently: R Cohrs has 4 points, martinburley has 3 points, Franklint has 1 point, custardchuk has 1 point, Urbanus has 1 point.

Skull-Crusher

Awarded to the player (if any) who achieves the highest number of 4-0 victories in that season.

Currently: custardchuk has 1 skull, Franklint has 1 skull, R Cohrs has 1 skull, ScissorSista has 1 skull.

Winners of each of these titles will receive a prize. What the prizes themselves are, you'll just have to wait and see.

Other titles may and likely will be awarded at the jury's discretion. However the above titles carry the greatest honour.

If there is any dispute not covered by the above rules, the decision of the tournament organiser is final.

I will delete and replace this post each time I update the ladder, so the time it was last updated shows in the topics list. Last updated: now.
