Many have wondered of late, "Just what the heck is going on with the Society's leadership?" I have just now uncovered a major coup, and found the answer to this burning question. Hold on to your hats, folks; it's going to be a bumpy ride.
By way of background, for many years the World RPS Society was based out of Trinity Square Plaza, in Toronto. Wojek Smallsoa was regularly seen pacing the halls, issuing directives, and smoking his famous cigar (until his doctor insisted that he forego the stogies.) Sometime in the late 90's, Wojek stopped being seen quite so regularly, though memos from his office continued unabated. Within the past five years, the Society moved its main offices from Trinity Square Plaza to the Trinity Building. Though a shell organization was left behind, all the main business of the Society was channeled through the Trinity Building. Curiously, this shift took place around the same time that Doug Walker, then Managing Director of the Society (more on him later) moved to a new home. This home was right around the corner from the Trinity Building, causing speculation that Wojek's iron grip was dissolving, and a bureaucratic coup had taken place. Some even insist that Wojek died many years ago, or at least is being kept in a medically-induced coma to allow the passing of power down the bureaucratic chain of command, something with which Wojek would never agree.
At this time, there was some speculation that Douglas Walker had gained the upper hand in the power struggle between himself and his brother Graham Walker, Director of Management of the World RPS Society. This point of view took a hit when the Society opened the Prague Office, and most of the Society's business started routing through the Czech Republic. The reassignment of Jef Hallestone to the Prague Office was seen as a not-so-subtle ploy by Douglas Walker to ensure that Graham's efforts to control the Society would be doomed to failure. Still, Graham seemed to beat Doug every year in the "opening match" of the World Championships, and in the past few years Doug disappeared completely from the Championships. Graham seemed to be running things as a one-man show, and most of us assumed that Graham had seized the reins.
Somehow through all this, Wojek remained titular head of the WRPSS, until recently. According to
this article, Douglas Walker is now the "chairman of the World RPS Society." I reported this finding in another topic, supported by an image of Doug Walker, curiously without Graham.
Sometimes, when you smell a rat in the house, you have to make a little noise and see what crack he jumps out of. I can now unequivocably state that neither Doug NOR Graham Walker are in charge of the World RPS Society. The business with Doug being named "Chairman" was a ruse, a red herring. The true leadership of the Society may shock you.
Recently, I recieved
this in an email from the World RPS Society (I use an assumed name in all my dealings with the Society, so don't bother trying to locate me this way.) All in all, it seems to be in every way the typical annual shill from the Society, trying to drum up interest in its annual promotion. However, at the bottom of the page, the following highly intriguing information is included:
Our mailing address is:
World Rock Paper Scissors Society
c/o 7 East York Avenue
Toronto, ON M4K 3Z8
The Society's HQ is back in Toronto? This was news to me! And the address seems strangely familiar.
I entered "7 East York Avenue" in Google, hoping for a street view. Unfortunately, street view is not yet available in Canada, so I entered the address into a regular web search. The first hit was for "exprod.ca," which seemed eerily familiar. Looking further, 7 East York is also associated with "Rocket Ace Moving Pictures." The pieces started falling into place. 7 East York is also associated with "Dead End Days," a satanic zombie "comedy" with which several of you may be familiar. Finally, with the registration information for "theatered.com" the puzzle was finished. The address for theatered.com is listed as 7 East York. The administrative contact for theatered.com, owner of exprod.ca, and producer for Rocket Ace is the same person: I am speaking of none other than Brad Fox, head referee and now unquestionable Overlord of the World RPS Society.
In the States, we have a little thing called checks and balances. We have three branches of government with an intransitive relationship exactly like rock paper scissors. In theory, this keeps one branch from becoming too powerful (in practice, it is often another story...) With the executive power of the Society now firmly intertwined with the judicial authority of the Head Referee, I fear it is already too late. In a match of tournament RPS, the ref's authority is final, and cannot be appealed to a higher power. Now, Brad Fox has taken this authority and is wielding it over the whole Society.
I want answers, and I want them now. When did this coup take place? How did it transpire? What are UberFuhrer Fox's goals? I call on Brad Fox to publicly respond to these allegations, and explain himself. In order to depose this tyranical despot, the Society's membership may be forced into the uncomfortable position of having to ally with the Walker Brothers,
if they're still alive. Is it possible that Doug Walker's well-publicized trip to Hong Kong was to put him in exile? Since when have Managing Directors been called upon to provide lowly referee duties
for a shopping mall in China?!? And what did Brad Fox's trip to Mexico "on behalf" of the Society have to do with his rise to power? Finally,
what has Brad Fox done with Wojek Smallsoa?!? If Wojek is alive and in a medically-induced coma (as is my belief) it is time to
wake him up. Is he spending a few years in a coma for tax purposes, as has been reported? Or has he been removed from the Society's leadership by Brad Fox, so that he could consolidate his power over the Walkers? (we all know that Brad, being Canadian, is too polite to actually
kill Wojek.)
My work in exposing this fraud perpetuated on the Society as a whole is finished. The Great Work lies ahead of us, in restoring control of the Society to where it rightfully belongs:
in the hands of the membership. Society members, Bull Board readers, professional Players: your input is greatly needed and appreciated.
