With the upcoming server shift, perhaps it's time to do a little housekeeping.  Hey, as long as none of us have to do the work or pay the bills, right?  Smiley

I hereby motion that the Ladder Tournament Forum is a dead board.  It's been almost six months since a non-spam posting, and as far as I can tell, the Ladder Tournament is dead in the water.  A noble experiment, perhaps, but one whose time has clearly passed.

One option would be to can the forum altogether.  Another, and one that I'm favoring, would be to rename the forum and expand its focus to include Roshambull and other online fantasy rps options.  Although I like "Online Fantasy RPS", this title could be off-putting (and besides, we don't want Jef posting binaries of Jasmine Meade...again.)  "Roshambull" is a little too narrow, and "Roshambull and Online RPS" is too wordy.  Perhaps just "RPS Online"?

Anyway, I'd be interested in getting the opinions of the board as whether or not the community likes the idea of expanding or abandoning the Ladder Board.  We can argue about the name later.  Not that any of us actually has the authority to make those changes...

I second your suggestion of altering this forum to be 'Online RPS' (better than 'RPS Online', which could refer for example to media coverage of live RPS). It would provide a place for discussion of online-specific strategies, and a place for players to brag and gripe about recent results on Roshambull and elsewhere. Also, by segregating online competiton discussion into this forum, it would I think make the Competition forum more prestigious as the place to discuss real RPS tournaments.

To go one step further, I'd like to see WRPSS take over on-line RPS.
The "Roshambull" on-line site is a negected competition forum frequented by genuinely interested and loyal fake players.

It would not take much too bring them over to a more interesting and relevant competition.

I think we all have ideas on how to improve on the model and how to attract new players, as well.

I see no reason why WRPSS couldn't do it, improve on it and attract sponsorship.

Offer up a prize of a ticket to the Worlds and a seeded position and you have a real selling point that Roshambull can not match.

In my view, taking an on-line competition under our umbrella is really the way forward for WRPSS. It presents opportunities to on sell the Society, merchandise, the worlds, and our belief system.

Once you've done this then the new topic in the forums, "Online RPS" becomes a "given".

The neglect phase is over... I can once again put my full and undivided attention into it.
