: I know I'm new around here, but just wanted to 'jump in' and throw in my 'two cents worth: ) I've had a lot of experience arranging office parties before, so would love to offer my humble opinion.

Certainly! I can use all the help I can get, humble or otherwise. Incidentally, which office did you wind up in? The Brigade reorganization has got me all turned around.

: First off, if you don't mind my asking, what was the process to elect you leader of the Christmas Party Planning Committe?

There was nothing so democratic, I'm afraid. I made a passing comment to our illustrious Commander-in-Chief, Yashawini Mahajan, about the possibility of expanding the Media Brigade office party into a broader Society event and she retaliated by dumping the planning on me. This sort of thing is neither my forte nor
my preference.

: I was wondering whether everyone got a chance to vote on that? I didn't see an internal email. Perhaps it's just my system...always screwing up.... Anyways, I wouldn't mind throwing my name in the pot for the next party planning committee head election, if it's not too much of an imposition.

It sounds like you think me an absurdly bad choice for such a thing. While I'm a little offended by your tone, I also agree with you. If there's ever a vote on such a thing, I'll happily vote for you. As for this time around, feel free to take charge of any percentage of the planning you like. Ms. Mahajan has not reduced my office's regular workload to compensate for this extra responsibility.

: Secondly, who decided to hold this party in the Conference Centre? It won't work. Drop by my office to discuss that one offline, ok?

That was my call. I must admit, you've got me shaking now. Tell me we haven't double-booked the facility again. Actually, just tell me which office you're in and I'll come see you. Have a chair ready.

: Thirdly, I know the WRPSS office is mostly guys, but don't forget a lot of you bring dates to this party, and the style and theme needs to be more in tune with our needs. Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter themed office parties will not be repeated while I'm at this office.

I concur. My hope was to have something somewhat more formal. Possibly a coat-and-tie affair (yes, I know that's a male slant on it, but I'm a little weak on vocabulary for women's apparel).

: Just my opinion, tee hee.

And a fine one, at that. No need to soften it with the giggle; I know I'm in over my head.

: Let's chat,

Sure. Actually, if you could stop by my office sometime, that might work better. Josh has just started stacking wreaths in front of my desk and I'm not sure I'll be able to get out of my office. Maybe we could shout at each other over the piles, though.
