I've dredded this for a long time, the encroachment of the computer into the honorable field of RPS is not an act any of us should welcome.

Sure, you think, this will give me plenty of time to practice all my moves in the privacy of my own home. I will no longer walk home from the Dojo feeling humble at being corrected. I can practice RPS at any time of the day. I can practice without any need for a partner.

But you must understand. Only with a living, thinking, cogniscent RPS opponent will you grow in any real sense. Sure, the computer can be fed a bucket of historically acurate games; but what empathic contact will you get with your foe? Can you feel the spirit of the machine? Can you sense it's hunger, it's hunt, it's thirst for blood? Can you tell when it's DVD is gripped with fear? When you've backed it into a corner? When it needs it's mother?

The day we start down the mechanical opponent road is the day the soul goes out of Roshambo.
