Ok, I stumbled onto this site doing a search for some company called 'RPS Software'. When I read the little summary in the search results, I was taken aback. I thought 'nooo, this can't be serious'.
My curiousity got the best of me, and, well, here I am. I could not believe my eyes. There is actually a website devoted to Rock, Paper, Scissors. I kept reading and clicking and clicking and reading just waiting for the punch line. To my surprise, there was NO punchline!!! This site is serious. I saw there is actually a message board. Before I clicked, I expected to find one of two things on the message board:
1) just a few posts by the site creator and his friends
or
2) a bunch of people making fun of this insanity
Again to my surprise, it is full of people actually talking serious about the game (i.e. strategies, rules, ethics, etc..)
Now I am fully intrigued. I am trying to imagine what the hell you people do when talking about rankings and such. I mean, are there actually tournaments, perhaps a gymnasium filled with little competition circles of head to head Rock Paper Scissor matches. I mean, is there a large turnout for something like this.
Then my mind goes to the obvious...what are the kinds of people going to these events? Are these people that Trekkie convention goers would poke fun at? Are these the kids in school that were in their little groups of RPG packs. I've got to wonder to myself the lives of these people, I'm imagining pretty much all males. I'm assuming not a lot of female turnout for these events.
I'm all for 'to each their own'. I mean, we all have strange and quirky behaviors that others might find odd. I'm just amazed that this is taken this seriously. I just hope that I am missing the big joke and you folks are all just kidding with this. If you're joking, then this site is friggin hilarious, if not...I hope not to work in the the same office as one of you. This just reeks of the news anchor saying "...after he blew everyone away with the AK-47, his apartment was searched and they found websites bookmarked and paraphernalia relating to the childrens game of Rock Paper Scissors...".
