: I might have expected that response from a Big Joe follower, and everyone know the Baja regionals were fixed, so I'm surprised you raised them in this context.

Total BS. What cracks me up is that the charge that the Baja regionals were fixed is so easy to disprove, and yet people continue to make it.

FACT: Replays from two different cameras show that the officials' "controversial" call in the seventh round that cost Sparky Langerman the match was CORRECT. Sparky threw three papers in a row, for reasons known only to him, and only when Li Shin-tzu walloped him with a game-ending scissor throw did Sparky lamely try to switch to rock after it was too late. You can watch the replays in RealVideo and Windows Media at http://www.roshambozos.com/baja2000/sparky.html (link down right now; sorry).

FACT: This all started when John Stennis went on ESPN2 and claimed that the captain of the Canadian team told Roshambo World magazine that they had the Baja judges "in our pockets." He said it was on page 64 of the September 1999 issue, yet the only things on page 64 of that issue are the continuation of a profile of Junior division competitor Justine Bromley and a half-page ad for ScissorTech's throw-modeling software.

FACT: John Stennis has a known axe to grind against the Baja organizers and he's been peddling his various grudges for years. Maybe if he'd spend more time perfecting his throws and less time whining he would have done better than seventeenth.

I'm certainly no Big Joe fan, but I hate to see any rumor like this go unchallenged, especially one that's so potentially damaging to the integrity of the sport.
