Before this minor tussle becomes a full-fledged
brou-ha-ha, allow me to inject a calming bit of
information regarding the addition of dynamite and
string to the original RPS triad. We on the
Theoretical Throws Bureau have wrestled with (and
continue to wrestle with) the faction that insists
on adding these two throws (especially dynamite).
While we have nothing against creating new hybrids
which take RPS as their genesis (and when you stop
to think about it, doesn't every sport which is
well thought out essentially do this?), we must
maintain that adding other throws to rock, paper,
and scissors DOES change the game.

For example, when one adds dynamite and string,
he is technically playing RPSDS, which (as one can
infer from its title) is no longer RPS.

(As a side note, a similar issue came up on the
previous bulletin board regarding Rock Paper
Scissors Spock Lizard. This particular game was
well designed in that it maintained the essential
symmetry, and had clearly designed throws which
had logical explanations for why they lost to/
defeated the other throws. Was it RPS? No.
Was it a well-designed game that found its origins
in RPS? Absolutely.)
