I disagree about the Rock lead.

I cannot agree with you about the rock being the obvious lead against a novice. My experience playing against novices is that they themselves in fact lead with rock 6.9 times out of ten. I have a devised a gambit that seems to win over most novice players.

scissors, scissors, paper.

What! You all say, why would I lead with scissors when I know the novice to lead rock? losing the first hand is key to this victory. It lulls them into a state of confidence. After the early win almost every novice plays paper, subconsciously they feel safe with paper, and enjoy attempting the cloak. When they lose the second hand they get worried and can't help but return to "good 'ol rock". This gambit has saved my honor in many a tavern when some young punk begins to run off at the mouth about his superior RPS ability.

I call this gambit "The Polish Printing Press" but a more PC version is simply "The Reverse Paper Doll".

For obvious reasons this gambit does not work on professional players (a simple "Russian Flounder" followed with the deadly "PokŽ-rock" will destroy anyone attempting this gambit).
