: I have returned, indeed. First off, I would like to thank those of you who were kind enough to keep me in your thoughts and drop me a line during my sabbatical. Thanks go out to Arbiter, C. Urbanus, Rich (not that one, the other one), sixblueten, RockItMan, Freddy Flamb� (I'm flattered, but no), Jim "Paper Tiger" Smith, Rich (not the other one, that one), DG, and Portland Neophyte, among others. : My return was not all happy, though. Upon arriving, I was greeted with the sight of an Interviewer from the Disciplinary Committee waiting outside my office wearing a suit, carrying a briefcase, with a freshly shaven dome, dark sunglasses and a peaceful smile on his face (never a good sign.) I see that in my absence the action on the board (what little of it there was) focused quite a bit on Phartgate. I fear that I will be caught up for quite some time in the aftermath as I am questioned concerning my role in the debacle. I do not, however, intend to provide coverage of the hearings. If any of you media jackals (no offense, Arbiter) have nothing better to do, feel free to cover the proceedings. However, I would council you not to waste your time.
: Which brings us, I suppose, to coverage of the "Should I Stay or Should I Go" vote. You may remember that just prior to my sabbatical, I called for a vote to determine whether or not I should step down from office. I would like to thank all of you who voted; there was indeed a good number of opposing viewpoints. The final tally, though, (all hand counted twice) left absolutely no room for interpretation of the board's consensus. In the final analysis, those who voted took a good hard look at the allegations of Al Thorn and my friend Custardchuk�and agreed wholeheartedly. I have chosen to accept the results of the poll and resign from the position of Director of Outreach, Fund Raising, and Spiritual Concerns. I have already submitted my resignation.
: This being the WRPSS, however, nothing is as easy as it seems. From what the Interviewer leeringly told me, the quick way to resign from office would be to die. As it is, the resignation letter has begun making the rounds, but it still has a long way to go. Estimates on the amount of time involved to approve the request ranged from a conservative "probably before the end of the year" to "early next year, at the latest." The office will undergo a rapid deconstruction after my resignation. The Outreach office will be split up into a series of Regional Advisories. The Fund Raising responsibilities will be shunted back into the individual offices on the micro level, and possibly switched to the Web Design Committee on the macro level. The Spiritual Concerns office will simply be dissolved, as it was a mostly underused resource anyway. Other than that, I have nothing to offer this Board but my apologies.
: Nothing, that is, except for continued hard-hitting and insightful RPS commentary. No less a personage than Wojeck Smallsoa himself stopped by the office and mentioned that many individuals who choose to resign take a lengthy sabbatical for the remainder of their term of office. He proceeded to strongly suggest that I do the same. I assured him then, as I assure you now, that I intend to do no such thing. I will fulfill, to the best of my abilities, the duties of my office until the very last day. I thank those of you who have supported my efforts and the efforts of this Office thus far, and encourage you all to continue to offer your comments, criticism, responses and insight.
