Technically, I am prohibited from even discussing the P________ matter until at least the end of the hearings. Perhaps longer. But I feel I must call for restraint and passivity as regards the most recent posting by an individual I do not need to refer to by name.
I personally had no intent to respond, and had hoped that no others on the board would do so either. It is obvious at this point that the cries of "wolf!" by those secretly seeking self-aggrandizement are false cries, crocodile tears.
I remember the old days (a couple of months ago) when the vast majority of posts on this board were focused on the true spirit of RPS, on sportsmanship, strategy, debate, history, details of play, etc. Is this what we have become? A gaggle of "gossipin' bitties" as my dear grandfather used to say? We may have even chased away certain august personages such as Custardchuk and Monica, who have not posted in some time, undoubtedly for this very reason. There was a time when the personal comments served as a spicy condiment to the "meat" of the board (or "tofu" of the board, to the vegans amongst us.) We now have a surfeit of personal comments and little substance, like sitting down to a meal of hot peppers and salt, and ignoring the rice.
I would like to challenge all those who still see this board as a dynamic force in the WRPSS to post one article relevant to RPS before the end of the month. I fear that I am much to blame for the tone of things lately. Lord knows I love a good scandal, and to paraphrase Mae West, "I don't care what they print about me as long as it's not true." But we must think of those who come to this site unawares and seeking to find wisdom in the Bull Board find only dross. We should not turn completely away from the taunting and catcalling that gives this Board it's own particular flavor. But we must also strive to remember why we are here, the common bond that unites us all, and endeavor each day to do a little better, to become better players, better individuals, and better members of the World Rock Paper Scissors Society.
Do it for the children.
