A recent question reminded me of something Lindsay and I agreed on the plane last week.
The inquirer asked about the origins of Lindsay's nickname 'Metamorphic Man'.
I can confirm it was indeed penned because of Lindsay's Avalanche Bluff. His ability to turn what everyone knew would be a rock into something else was widely regarded.
On the plane last week Lindsay and I were having a laugh about some of the other nicknames we had heard over the years.
We both agreed our favourite was 'Modern Office' Maxwell. We decided it would be fun to post a competition on this board to see if anyone could guess the origins of this one.
A small clue: Maxwell never achieved much on the circuit due to an inherent flaw in his strategies.
As a sweetener Lindsay has offered an autographed copy of his now unavailable book "Rocky Road" and I will throw in a pair of commemerative cufflinks from the 88 Australian Championships. Two prizes not to be scoffed at.
So get to it.
